Venture capitals (VCs) are firms that fund emerging companies and startups businesses.

Many celebrity investors run their own venture capital firms in order to make deals via their own company.

When a celebrity gets wind of a business with high growth potential or that has demonstrated high growth, they often use the opportunity to invest.

Some celebrities focus on businesses that personally speak to them, while others are interested in jumping on the next big thing.

The following are a list of four of the most successful celebrities that have their own VCs.

Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez, a.k.a. A-Rod is a former baseball shortstop and entrepreneur who’s one the most active celebrities with their own VCs.

Since playing professional baseball, A-Rod has established his very own full-service investment firm, A-ROD Corp.

The athlete turned entrepreneur also founded Monument Capital Management which has $700 million of real estate assets across 13 states.

Both firms manage internal and external capital which have invested in SnapChat, TruFusion and Energy Fitness.

Ashton Kutcher

Along with his business partners, Kutcher developed his own private equity firm, A-Grade Investments back in 2010.

The aim of his firm is to allow VCs to invest and provide funding in technology startups and emerging businesses.

The actor turned entrepreneur deals with over 70 on-going investments as an individual and also with his firm.

A-Grade Investments’ profitable deals include Flipboard, Uber, Spotify, Soundcloud, Airbnb, Couple, Muse and Shazam.

Moreover, Kutcher was also one of the initial Skype investors, before Microsoft bought it for $8.5 million.

Jay-Z

Known as the king of hip-hop, Jay-Z is one of the active entrepreneurial celebrities on our list to have their own successful investment VCs.

The rapper/entrepreneur founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1995 and has since branched off into music production and fashion.

His clothing company Rocawear, increased in value over the course of eight years as it was sold for $204 million in 2007.

Additionally, Jay-Z invested $56 million in the media technology company Aspiro, that features the music streaming service, Tidal.

The Swedish music streaming service currently values at an impressive $600 million with celebrities like Madonna as shareholders.

The rapper’s businesses serve as VCs for his investment ventures and provide the funding for companies that spark his interest.

Snoop Dogg

As well as being a rapper, Snoop Dogg is also a well know cannabis connoisseur.

With his interest in the recreational drug, the rapper developed his own firm that would expand his interests into a business.

Casa Verde Capital is credited as the leading firm of VCs which focuses exclusively on the cannabis industry.

Founded in 2015, Casa Verde Capital has since become a highly marketable cannabis-focused investment.

Snoop Dogg’s fundings include the on-demand delivery service, Eaze as well as the wholesale marketplace, Leaflink.
