Owning your own fashion brand is a common business strategy to embark on when you’re a celebrity.

In order to keep that coin coming, the rich and famous often use their global platform to develop brands with sustainable incomes.

Here a list of 10 celebrities that took advantage of their fame and fundings to launch their very own clothing line and fashion brands.

SJP By Sarah Jessica Parker

The “SATC” star followed in her character, Carrie Bradshaw’s footsteps with her enthusiasm for designer shoes.

In 2014, the actor partnered with Net-a-Porter to create her very own high-end shoe collection, SJP By Sarah Jessica Parker.

Similar to Carrie’s personal shoe collection, Parker’s prices are not for high-street shoppers, with most of her shoes costing $600.

Ivy Park By Beyoncé

Beyoncé developed her own fashion line, Ivy Park with the intent to help women look and feel like a queen.

The musician teamed up with London based fashion mogul, Topshop in 2016 to create a stylish activewear that range from $30 to $200.

In 2019, Beyoncé announced a collaboration between Ivy Park and Adidas following severed ties with Topshop.

Melissa McCarthy says she dreamt of owning her own fashion line since she was a kid, “I had one thought in my head – women’s clothing.” 

Evidently, that’s what she did! When she’s not playing our favorite bridesmaid, the comedian is designing clothes for realistic women.

Moreover, McCarthy launched her debut collection, Seven7 with HSN as well as selling to major retailers around the U.S. including Walmart and Nordstorm.

Her body positive fashion line includes sizes from four to 28 because, “women do not stop at a size 12!”

S By Serena Williams

In 2018, tennis pro, Serena Williams launched her own line of fashion, S by Serena.

The athlete describes her fashion line as a brand that celebrates and champion all their customers, both women and men.

Williams’ successful fashion brand includes a wide range of tops, bottoms, dresses, outwear and accessories for “everybody and every BODY.” 

Eva Mendes And New York & Company

Eva Mendes’ fashion line was such a success that retailers expanded the growing brand to 50 shop-in-shops as well as 19 Eva Mendes boutiques.

In addition, Mendes’ collection also does exceedingly well as an online business.  

In general, the former actor turned entrepreneur sells a wide range of apparel from $46.95 to $129.95. 

DUBGEE by Whoopi

In May 2019, Whoopi Goldberg released her own fashion line, DUBGEE by Whoopi available at Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Amazon and more.

With prices ranging from $89 to $390, Goldberg’s clothing line rejects the stereotype that certain clothes are for specific age groups.

The actor has described her clothing as non-age restricting saying, “you could be whatever age you are and look good in it.”

Goop Label By Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow launched her lifestyle brand and business, Goop in 2008. Since then, the actor has taken Goop down various different routes.

Today, the actor’s lifestyle brand includes wellness vitamins, skin-care products as well as its own Goop Label fashion line.

However, many reviews have criticized Goop for its overpriced, ultra-luxurious products that by no means target the working class.

From $50 T-shirts to $6,000 cosmetic bags, Goop’s fashion brand continues to target the cream of upper class shoppers.

Elizabeth And James By Marky-Kate And Ashley Olsen

Everybody’s favorite movie twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen established their own long-standing fashion and accessorize brand, The Row in 2006.

In addition, the twins also launched their own successful clothing line, Elizabeth and James in 2007.

The multi-category lifestyle brand includes contemporary clothing, accessories and fragrances, rooted in the idea of effortless dressing.

Since their days on the screen, the former actors now act as designers and entrepreneurs for their successful and affordable clothing brand.

Gabrielle Union And New York & Company

In 2017, Gabrielle Union introduced her own fashion line in partnership with New York and Company.

With her contemporary style and taste in fashion, it’s no surprise that the actor ventured off into the business of curating and designing clothes.

Moreover, Union’s own instagram account is a fashion-infused zone, as the actor uses her social media to showcase her own unique approach to style.

In addition, the actor’s new line includes sizes 0 to 20 of jumpsuits, sweater dresses, kimono jackets, flattering sweater dresses and lots more.

Kardashian Kids

Our last on the list of celebrities with their own fashion lines are the Kardashian sisters.

Once the women of the family became mothers, they realized there was a lot to profit from a kid’s line of clothing. And so, they got busy!

Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian launched Kardashian Kids as a team, to create affordable kids clothing that reflect their experience as mothers.

Kardashian Kids launched in 2020 and is sold at Babies “R” Us, Lord & Taylor, Zappos, Nordstrom.com and Hudson’s Bay Canada.
